Dialysis is a medical procedure which can help to clear harmful substances away from blood. However, dialysis does not work as well as our kidney, as during this process, not only harmful substances, but also some nutrition are removed as well. Removing too much weight at one time can cause quick decrease of blood stream in kidney, and thus lead to low blood pressure.

Dialysis is a process for removing waste and excess water from the blood and is mainly used as an artificial substitute for lost renal function in people with renal failure. Nutrition plays an important role during dialysis.

The appropriate portion sizes

Which foods should be considered

1, protein intake: selection of high-quality biological animal protein-based, such as milk, eggs, fish, lean meat, etc. to add a variety of essential amino acids. Plant soybeans, peanuts, although high in protein content, but with less essential amino acids, should not eat.

2, calorie intake: Under normal circumstances 30 ~ 45kcal / kg / d, depending on individual differences.

3, calcium and other substances added: calcium, zinc and iron, and enough B vitamins

4, limited water: the general daily weight gain of 0.5 kg is appropriate, dialysis intermittent excessive water intake can lead to water intoxication and cardiovascular complications.

5, limiting sodium: daily sodium should be limited to 2 ~ 3g or less to prevent high blood pressure and heart failure.

6, Limit potassium: limit potassium intake to prevent hyperkalaemia.

7, Limited Phosphorus: High phosphorus low calcium can cause metabolic bone disease, avoid eating high phosphorus foods such as animal heart, brain, kidney, liver, vegetable soybeans, peanuts and other foods
